2015-01-29arch-mips.inc: Change definition of TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCHMark Hatle1
[YOCTO #7230] In certain system configurations TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCH will not expand in the right order for gcc-cross-candian-mips64n32 to be generated properly. This will cause SDKs to fail to generate properly. Changing the global definition of TRANSLATED_TARGET_ARCH always expands the ABIEXTENSION, which causes the OVERRIDES to pick it up as well. This effectively defines a new class of overrides for the 'n32'. The side effect is that we need to duplicate some mips64 overrides, and redefine others that were previously 'n32' or 'mips64' exclusive to have the correct semantics. 2014-12-03gdb: disable GuileRoss Burton1
GDB 7.8 added Guile support, and it will auto-detect if Guile is present (which is non-deterministic, so bad), and if it's present will fail to find the guild binary as it doesn't consider the sysroot. Drop patch merged upstream. Also drop old arm/thumb patch which breaks the compile on arm. We've had this since 2010 (or longer) and the issue has likely been fixed upstream by now. As an example of showing what problem we might have without this patch, see the following steps which would lead to a failure. 1. The class itself currently does nothing. The idea is to mark all recipes that make use of the texinfo utilities. In the future, this class could be used to suppress the generation/formatting of documentation for performance, explicitly track dependencies on these utilities, and eliminate Yocto's current dependency on the host system's texinfo utilities. A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the recipe / package where possible. 2013-10-30cross-canadian: Handle powerpc linux verses linux-gnuspeRichard Purdie1
PowerPC toolchains can use the OS "linux" or "linux-gnuspe". This patch links them together so the one cross-canadian toolchain can support both. Incorrect exec-prefix path was given to gdb which leads to gdb startup failure when SDK is not installed to its original destination. Gdb relocates the exec-prefix path, so it will work for SDKs that are installed to different location. PYTHONHOME env in no longer neeeded for gdb. GDB's configury has a tendency to hard-code the path where it found libexpat using "-Wl,--rpath". This is undesirable and leads to QA warnings. GDB wants to install a bunch of files in ${datadir}/gdb/python/gdb and ${datadir}/gdb/syscalls. These pathnames are invariant with TARGET_ARCH which means that if you build gdb multiple times for different targets they will all try to write to the same location and you get a lot of warning spew about manifest conflicts. Prevent this by factoring the target specification into ${datadir} so that different copies of GDB install their files into different paths. As discussed on the mailing lists, using a suffix to package names is hard and has lead to many recipes having to do PKGSUFFIX games. Its looking extremely hard to scale nativesdk much further without hacking many recipes. By comparison, using a prefix like multilib does works much better and doesn't involve "hacking" as many recipes. gdb-cross-canadian was linking with static version of libpython and looking for build host python when run. This could be mismatch between python-nativesdk and build host provided python. So we make it consistent to always use python-nativesdk Instead of adding bunch of -L we add -rpath and -rpath-link so that gdb finds all needed libraries in SDK and does not reach out into host This should fix yocto PR# 2077 as well.
