2013-01-10apt-native: fix the creation of apt.conf.sampleHongxu Jia1
1.The file of "apt.conf.sample" is in the outdir, and outdir is assigned by "os.path.join" with the params of ${D}, ${sysconfdir} and "apt". But ${sysconfdir} is an absolute dir and that let ${D} be discarded. The following is the help on function os.path.join(a, *p): Join two or more pathname components, inserting '/' as needed. If any component is an absolute path, all previous path components will be discarded. Use oe.path.join instead which don't have this problem. 2. Create apt.conf.sample if it doesn't exist. 2012-08-17apt-native 0.7.14: remove an extra line from apt.confRobert Yang2

2012-07-19Remove a number of unneeded import os/bb callsRichard Purdie1
The bb and os modules are always imported so having these extra import calls are a waste of space/execution time. They also set a bad example for people copy and pasting code so clean them up. Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>

2012-07-09apt 0.7.14: runtime error: Method file has died unexpectedlyRobert Yang4
When the length of the tmpdir is longer than 400, there is an error when run "apt-get update": Method file has died unexpectedly! This is because the "char S[1024]" is not enough for long URI, S[2048] would be enough. [YOCTO #2689] Signed-off-by: Robert Yang <liezhi.yang@windriver.com>
2012-07-09apt 0.7.14: runtime error: filename too long (tmpdir length)Robert Yang4
when the tmpdir dir is longer than 220, there is no files saved in tmp/sysroots/x86_64-linux/var/lib/apt/lists/ after run apt-get update, this is because apt-get uses the path as the file name, but the file name can't be longer than 255 according to /usr/include/linux/limits.h. 2012-06-08apt 0.7.14: do_compile failed with gcc 4.7Robert Yang4
apt do_compile failed with gcc 4.7: deb/deblistparser.cc: In member function 'virtual short unsigned int debListParser::VersionHash()': deb/deblistparser.cc:212:13: error: redeclaration of 'char* I' deb/deblistparser.cc:202:22: error: 'const char** I' previously declared here Backport the patch from the upstream would fix the problem, both target and native apt need it. 2012-06-08apt-get 0.7.14: hangs at runtimeRobert Yang2
This patch had a little problem, it made a infinite loop: for (K = CmdL.FileList + 1; *K != 0; J++) But the value of "K" will nerver change, so the apt-get hangs, revert this patch first, and will fix the problem in another patch. Note: Increment the PR from 11 to 12 Revert "apt: Fix a latent bug exposed by gcc 4.7" This reverts commit 9d526462fe97564652771812ad1d363e9962b1e3. 2012-03-05meta: Convert getVar/getVarFlag(xxx, 1) -> (xxx, True)Richard Purdie2
Using "1" with getVar is bad coding style and "True" is preferred. This patch is a sed over the meta directory of the form: sed \ -e 's:\(\.getVar([^,()]*, \)1 *):\1True):g' \ -e 's:\(\.getVarFlag([^,()]*, [^,()]*, \)1 *):\1True):g' \ -i `grep -ril getVar *` Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>

2011-11-23apt: Fix locale header and hardcoded libname issuesRichard Purdie6
apt wasn't building on modern libc/compiler combinations due to missing header includes. The libcpp version was also being hardcoded, this patch generates it dynamically to work on different host systems which no longer have this. Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
2011-11-10Convert to use direct access to the data store (instead of bb.data.*Var*())Richard Purdie2
This is the result of running the following over the metadata: sed \ -e 's:bb.data.\(setVar([^,()]*,[^,()]*\), *\([^ )]*\) *):\2.\1):g' \ -e 's:bb.data.\(setVarFlag([^,()]*,[^,()]*,[^,()]*\), *\([^) ]*\) *):\2.\1):g' \ -e 's:bb.data.\(getVar([^,()]*\), *\([^(), ]*\) *,\([^)]*\)):\2.\1,\3):g' \ -e 's:bb.data.\(getVarFlag([^,()]*,[^,()]*\), *\([^(), ]*\) *,\([^)]*\)):\2.\1,\3):g' \ -e 's:bb.data.\(getVarFlag([^,()]*,[^,()]*\), *\([^() ]*\) *):\2.\1):g' \ -e 's:bb.data.\(getVar([^,()]*\), *\([^) ]*\) *):\2.\1):g' \ -i `grep -ril bb.data *` Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>

2011-01-24apt: revert the dso_linking_change patch as the new linker fixes itNitin A Kamble2
The newer binutils recipe of version 2.21 has a fix for ld which avoids an issue where weak symbols like pthread_cancel were causing linking to fail wh --no-add-as-needed parameter was passed to ld. See more information here: http://bugs.debian.org/591405 This makes some of the fixes for breakage after gcc dso linking change unnecessary and this is one of them. 2011-01-20apt: fix build issue with gcc dso linking changeNitin A Kamble2
All the libraries needs to be specified explicitely with the new gcc dso linking change patch. This was causing build errors for this recipe. Specifying the libpthread library explicitely for linking to work without errors. Signed-off-by: Nitin A Kamble <nitin.a.kamble@intel.com>

2010-08-27Major layout change to the packages directoryRichard Purdie14
Having one monolithic packages directory makes it hard to find things and is generally overwhelming. This commit splits it into several logical sections roughly based on function, recipes.txt gives more information about the classifications used. The opportunity is also used to switch from "packages" to "recipes" as used in OpenEmbedded as the term "packages" can be confusing to people and has many different meanings. Not all recipes have been classified yet, this is just a first pass at separating things out. Some packages are moved to meta-extras as they're no longer actively used or maintained.
