It only fixed the text files in native_sysroot, but there might be some
files in the top installed dir (whose var name is target_sdk_dir in the
code) which are also needed to be fixed.
It used "find $native_sysroot", now also "find $target_sdk_dir -maxdepth 1",
and split the long line into small ones.

The install script is sometimes called under POSIXLY_CORRECT. This
requires two fixes be made:
1. `find -perm /0000` is a gnuism; replace with an equivalent boolean
expression using `-perm -0000`.
2. POSIX grep requires that all options be passed on the command line
before all files; otherwise, the options must be parsed as filenames.

It's possible to generate a command line in the relocate_sdk.sh script
which is too long (long paths, many files). This change limits the
xargs command line by breaking it up into smaller pieces.
One necessary side effect is that the -0 option is no longer used as it
doesn't seem to work properly with -n, so the file name arguments are
now quoted explicitly rather than \0 terminated.

It makes sense to move the script to a separate file, making the bbclass
clearer and allowing the end user to more easily customise or replace
it. There are no functionality changes, just the addition of some
substitution variables.

In commit b0df35f47fb79dc149504bd66d1186b3276f9510
("base-files: Add to make some directories needed by LSB.") there
were new groupings of dirs made. But rather than keep the grouping
names permissions based as they clearly were, it seems that it was
unfortunately misinterpreted as a counter, simply incrementing as
a new group was added.
This leads to dir3755 getting chmod'd to 0755 and dir4775 being
chmod'd to 2775 which to any new reader of the code is terribly
confusing.
Choose names that clearly reflect the permissions, and add a lsb
suffix to indicate the role.
Also note that the settings for /var/mail seem incorrect, and so
they have been aligned with what is seen in most common distros.

Mark Hatle did the historical research into why this was so,
and found that it originally was via debian import, and then
it morphed over time:
<fray> +# chown -R root:root ${D}
<fray> +# cd ${D} && chown root:src usr/src
<fray> +# cd ${D} && chown root:staff var/local
<fray> +# cd ${D} && chown root:staff home
<fray> + cd ${D} && chmod 755 `find . -type d`
<fray> + cd ${D} && chmod 1777 `cat ${S}/debian/1777-dirs`
<fray> + cd ${D} && chmod 2775 `cat ${S}/debian/2775-dirs`
<fray> that was the original code
<fray> so THAT is why they're 2775..
<fray> they were original 'src' and 'staff'.. which has gotten lost
sometime in the last 10 years
<fray> AND the origin:

This device list is only used if USE_DEVFS is set to '0' (which is NOT the default since 2013-12-14,
see commit f54fdd6673a136ee1cee1f3263a8a7820de43ca3) and if IMAGE_DEVICE_TABLE and IMAGE_DEVICE_TABLES are not set.
This is, of course a very subjective list but minimal with 62 (special) files.
However, you should be able to boot correctly a lot of embedded linux around.
Changes:
- add sda, sdb, sda[1234], sdb[1234]
- add mmcblk0, mmcblk0p[1234]
- add rtc0, rtc1
- restrict maximum hdaX from 19 to 4 (pata is old)
- add ttyS1
- remove initctl, apm_bios, tty8, ttySA
- sorted entries

Since 6775feb9fe935ab01fd9cae2b2d3fce5824a9a72 our local "copy" of the
debug sources has in fact been hardlinked to ${S} and potentially other
places too. This means that any modifications we make to these files
might have wider consequences than intended.
Avoid this potential pitfall by telling fixup_perms() to leave the file
modes in this directory alone. No great harm will result from shipping
debug sources with a mode other than 0644: if the mode was permissive
enough for us to compile the sources in the first place then it must
also be permissive enough for subsequent debugging.

This is a fairly large commit, so I want to step through some of
what this accomplishes:
1. Additional licenses
I've added/modified/corrected some of the common licenses
within OE-core in prep. for a major license audit. Most of these
are in SPDX format. A few, there is no OSI equivalent.
2. Additional SPDX mappings
I've added some additional SPDX mappings to account for removing
some duplicate licenses. (ie GPL-2 and GPL-2.0 were the same)
I've also remapped a few things to more accurately reflect what
they should be pointing at.
Note: Artistic/LGPL/GPL/MPL. Quite a few LICENSE fields list these
licenses. They make no sense and need auditing. In a future commit
I have some fixes to particularly egregious LICENSE fields, but
a full audit should be done. I've listed to obvious candidates at:
https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/License_Audit
3. License manifest
We now have a license manifest generation that occurs in rootfs for
everything BUT .deb. This requires the changes Paul Eggleton has
done to rootfs_* particularly the list_installed_packages function.
The manifest is accurate during a parallel bitbake now (Weee!) and
is prime for my planned SPDX format manifest during the next period.
4. License manifest on image.
We also want the ability to add licenses to the image. This
functionality is also in base-files and will be stripped out in my
next commit. The manifest is not added by default and is a two var
setting in license.conf:
If I want *just* the manifest on the image (small) then I set:
COPY_LIC_MANIFEST = "1"
This copies the manifest to:
/usr/share/common-licenses/license.manifest
If I want the actual PKG license text on the image (much larger)
I need to set both both COPY_LIC_MANIFEST and COPY_LIC_DIRS in
license.conf. This will create:
/usr/share/common-licenses/(package name)/(licenses in LIC_SRC_URI)
Word of warning. This can be larger than wanted depending on image
and is probably ripe for linking licenses, but I ran out of time this
week to get that done.
5. Custom License search path.
We now have the ability to add licenses to the build without touching
common-licenses. This is set via license.conf:
LICENSE_PATH += "/path/to/custom/licenses"
You want to make sure the license is unique. license.bbclass picks the
first license it finds.

files
New users sometimes delete files in tmp/deploy/images assuming they will
be re-created just by re-running the build, and then are confused when
this doesn't work. To discourage people from doing this, create a file
called README_-_DO_NOT_DELETE_FILES_IN_THIS_DIRECTORY.txt in
tmp/deploy/images containing an explanation of what needs to be done to
re-create files there.

Add a new function that is responsible for fixing directory and file
permissions, owners and groups during the packaging process. This will fix
various issues where two packages may create the same directory and end up
with different permissions, owner and/or group.
The issue being resolved is that if two packages conflict in their ownership
of a directory, the first installed into the rootfs sets the permissions.
This leads to a least potentially non-deterministic filesystems, at worst
security defects.
The user can specify their own settings via the configuration files
specified in FILESYSTEM_PERMS_TABLES. If this is not defined, it will
fall back to loading files/fs-perms.txt from BBPATH. The format of this
file is documented within the file.
By default all of the system directories, specified in bitbake.conf, will
be fixed to be 0755, root, root.
The fs-perms.txt contains a few default entries to correct documentation,
locale, headers and debug sources. It was discovered these are often
incorrect due to being directly copied from the build user environment.
The entries needed to match the base-files package have also been added.
Also tweak a couple of warnings to provide more diagnostic information.

I'm adding full common licenses to the common license directory.
These licenses are taken from the SPDX project or the OSI license
repository. They conform to the SPDX naming convention and will be
used by the new license.bbclass license parser in order to maintain
some sort of internal standard for license naming.
Going forward, we should have a bigger conversation about the LICENSE
field and standardizing that to conform to this naming standard.

This is an intial commit for the license reporting system. A few notes:
The LICENSE fields needs to be standardized throughout poky. As it
stands, we throw a warning if the license file is not found (either
because it does not exist or because LICENSE_FILE_CHKSUM is munged)
in the generic license directory. This should eventually become an
error.
I've seen a few places where Apache-v2.0 is written differently and
I'm sure this will throw the above warning. This does not put the
license data on the rootfs. Also, I provide both the actual license
text and a link to the best guess of the generic_license. That guessing
is not very robust and I'm loath to get into a bunch of pattern matching
rather than standardize LICENSE.
This adds one new param to poky.conf and one new to license.bbclass:
LICENSE_DIR: the base directory we copy all the license results to (set
in license.bbclass)
COMMON_LICENSE_DIR: this is the directory that holds all the common
generic license files. currently meta/files/common-licenses (set in
poky.conf)
TODO:
- We should verify the common-licenses. I stripped these from my Ubuntu
10.10 system.
- We should allow the capability of licenses on the rootfs, although the
resulting image created would be a lot larger.
- More common-licenses. I don't include bzip, zlib, ICS.... I should,
but that means tracking down a lot of licenses.
- General cleanup of licensing and standardization of names. We should
standardize on a naming convention. What's in licenses.conf should
match up with what is in the recipes which should match with what is
in common-licenses. Outside the scope of this though. See:
